Indie rock heroes Modest Mouse played to a sold out crowd at Rams Head Live in Baltimore’s inner harbor on 4/18/2022. This was the band’s first show of the tour, and it was clear they are at one of their top musical peaks. Amazing performance by versatile musicians. The band is currently on an extensive US tour in support of their 2021 album, The Golden Casket. Shows are selling out so secure your spot quickly.

Animals As Leaders (Photo by Andy Jillson)

Animals As Leaders performed for a rabid sold out crowd at Soundstage in Baltimore’s inner harbor on 4/13/2022. This was a highly-anticipated show. Metalheads from DC, MD, VA (the DMV) and beyond filled the venue to its maximum capacity. The band were on tour in support of their 2022 album, Parrhesia, but the tour has now come to an end.

I was fortunate to be at this show, and too be the only photographer in the photo pit. What a treat! Anyway, be sure to check out the Official Animals As Leaders Website for music, news, merch, and tickets for festival appearances and tour dates. Continue reading below for my full review. Buddy Guy (Photo by Andy Jillson)

Buddy Guy recently performed at Capital One Hall with special guest Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, and I was there to document my first show in this new venue. The one-time-only show took place in Tysons Corner, Virginia on 4/2/2022. Fortunately, I was approved for a photo pass and received a warm welcome upon arrival. I hope to be back soon.

Anyway, this concert was truly a historical music event. Be sure to check the Official Buddy Guy Website & Kingfish Website for music, news, merch, and tickets for all upcoming tour dates. Continue reading below for my full review. All images copyright and courtesy of Andy Jillson.

Rob Halford (Photo by Andy Jillson)

Judas Priest and the Metal God himself Rob Halford fired up fans with a set of classic heavy metal songs in Oxon Hill, Maryland this past week. The “50 Years of Metal” North American tour was postponed in 2021, but the band are back on the road and showing no signs of age. Top notch musicians playing unapologetic heavy metal music. Truly amazing.

Lauren Monroe (Photo by Andy Jillson)

Lauren Monroe, along with legendary Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen, played a heartfelt set of songs in an intimate setting at The Loft (City Winery DC) this past week. What an honor to have been granted access to cover this performance. Monroe’s music and lyrics are deeply moving and have a healing quality. The subjects and themes within the songs are intense yet the music is somewhat sedative. Bluesy Novocaine for the soul. Bravo.

If you are unfamiliar with Lauren Monore’s music I strongly encourage you to explore. She has an abundance of great material. If you are unfamiliar with Rick Allen and/or Def Leppard…you must not be from this planet. Anyway, be sure to check out the Official Lauren Monroe Website for music, news, merch, and tickets for all upcoming tour dates. Continue reading below for my full review. Ghost (Photo by Andy Jillson)

Ghost, Sweden’s hardest-rocking band, brought their unique sound and style to the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania earlier this week. I was lucky enough to catch the band while touring across North America with co-headliners Volbeat. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect walking into the photo pit for Ghost’s performance, and I must admit I was somewhat nervous, but my expectations were far exceeded.

Anyway, this is a must-see musical event for all fans of hard rock and heavy metal. Tickets for remaining tour dates are available HERE. Also be sure to check the Official Ghost Website for music, videos, news, and all upcoming tour dates. Continue reading below for my full concert review. San Holo is currently on an extensive US fall and winter tour in support of his new album, bb u ok?. This was my second time at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, but my first time seeing San Holo live. Slipknot (Photo by Anthony Scanga)

Well, I was fortunate to see Slipknot twice this year on the Knotfest Roadshow. I made the trip to BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ on 10/12/21, and also attended their show at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, VA on 10/13/21. Both performances were top notch, but the show in New Jersey was my favorite. The fans in Camden were fuckin’ nuts! The woman in the sit next to mine cried sporadically throughout Slipknot’s entire performance. Intense.

Be sure to check the Official Slipknot Website for music, videos, news, and all upcoming tour dates. Continue reading below for my full concert review. All images copyright and courtesy of Anthony Scanga. Much gratitude to Costa Nostra PR for making this happen.
