Buddy Guy recently performed at Capital One Hall with special guest Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, and I was there to document my first show in this new venue. The one-time-only show took place in Tysons Corner, Virginia on 4/2/2022. Fortunately, I was approved for a photo pass and received a warm welcome upon arrival. I hope to be back soon.

If you are unfamiliar, Animals As Leaders is an American progressive metal band. They are a trio of disciplined virtuosos playing avantgarde instrumental music. Stream Animals As Leaders’ new album, Parrhesia, on Spotify and then buy yourself a copy. Great band…great album. Go out and see this band!

Concert Review: Judas Priest @ The Theater at MGM National Harbor 3/31/22 — Oxon Hill, MD

Judas Priest and the Metal God himself Rob Halford fired up fans with a set of classic heavy metal songs in Oxon Hill, Maryland this past week. The “50 Years of Metal” North American tour was postponed in 2021, but the band are back on the road and showing no signs of age. Top notch musicians playing unapologetic heavy metal music. Truly amazing.

Concert Review: Lauren Monroe w/ Rick Allen @ City Winery 3/24/22 — Washington, DC

Lauren Monroe, along with legendary Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen, played a heartfelt set of songs in an intimate setting at The Loft (City Winery DC) this past week. What an honor to have been granted access to cover this performance. Monroe’s music and lyrics are deeply moving and have a healing quality. The subjects and themes within the songs are intense yet the music is somewhat sedative. Bluesy Novocaine for the soul. Bravo.

If you are unfamiliar with Lauren Monore’s music I strongly encourage you to explore. She has an abundance of great material. If you are unfamiliar with Rick Allen and/or Def Leppard…you must not be from this planet. Show Preview: Ministry @ The Ritz 3/18/22 — Raleigh, NC

Ministry Tour 1 — *The Industrial Strength Tour*

Ministry have finally hit the road and are touring across the states w/ support from Melvins and Corrosion of Conformity. The Industrial Strength Tour was postponed two years in a row due to COVID; however, the tour is now in full-swing. Praise the LARD! Tickets can be purchased HERE.

Each night will celebrate 30+ years of The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste as well as the recent release of Ministry’s 15th studio album, Moral Hygiene. Thankfully the tour stops at The Ritz in Raleigh, North Carolina on 3/18/22. This is literally a dream show for me. I’m sick with excitement. Get up…get on your feet!!!

Show Preview: Melvins @ The Wellmont Theater 3/12/22 — Montclair, NJ

The almighty Melvins are currently touring the US in support of industrial metal juggernaut Ministry. The Industrial Strength Tour (as it’s being called) was postponed the past two years due to COVID; however, the tour is now in full-swing. Thankfully the tour hits The Wellmont Theater in Montclair, New Jersey on 3/12/22. Tickets can be purchased HERE.

Fortunately for me I was able to photograph Tool at Capital One Arena in DC recently. Whoa. What an amazing show! Both musically and visually stunning. Psychedelic, progressive hard rock at its finest. A bit challenging for a photographer, but so much nervous excitement. I had not seen Tool since the late 90s. Completely blew my mind.

Concert Review: Cannibal Corpse @ Soundstage 2/20/22 — Baltimore, MD

Death metal icons Cannibal Corpse recently kicked off their long-awaited headlining tour of the states and stopped at Baltimore Soundstage this past weekend. Of course, I had to check them out. I couldn’t help myself!

One word basically sums up this show…brutal. Cannibal Corpse is a must-see live act for fans of extreme hard rock and heavy metal. Concert Review: Ghost @ Giant Center 2/8/22 — Hershey, PA

Ghost, Sweden’s hardest-rocking band, brought their unique sound and style to the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania earlier this week. I was lucky enough to catch the band while touring across North America with co-headliners Volbeat. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect walking into the photo pit for Ghost’s performance, and I must admit I was somewhat nervous, but my expectations were far exceeded.

Photo Flashback: David Shaw @ Union Stage 12/18/21 — Washington, DC

Acclaimed singer-songwriter, and frontman of The Revivalists, David Shaw played his first ever solo show in DC on 12/18/21. Union Stage was the perfect set and setting for Shaw to showcase the raw poetry and storytelling within his debut solo work. This was a rare treat in an intimate musical setting.
