Starset is an American rock band from Columbus, Ohio — formed by singer, songwriter, and keyboardist Dustin Bates in 2013. The band has found success in expanding the ideas of their unique concept albums through social media, YouTube, and touring. Their most commercially successful song, “Monster,” peaked at number 2 on the Billboard US Mainstream Rock Songs chart in May 2017. Lead vocalist Bates informally describes their music as “cinematic rock.” To date, Starset have released 3 studio albums.
Bates’ interest in astronomy was first fueled when acquiring his masters degree in electrical engineering. He completed research for the US Air Force and also taught at the International Space University. This guy knows his stuff!
Luckily for some concert-goers, Starset still have stops remaining on their North American tour. Try to see one of their shows if possible. Check Starset’s Official Website for all remaining tour dates and other info about the band.
