Underoath are currently on the first leg of their “They’re Only Chasing Safety 20th Anniversary Tour” and they stopped to perform at Rams Head Live! on 9/28/2024. The band has a rotation of supporting bands and at this stop they had Francis Doom and Static Dress. This concert was one to remember! It featured insane vocals, explosive energy, and non-stop nostalgia trips with each song.

Anyway, continue reading below for more photos of Underoath and my full review of the show. The show started off pitch black with a faint melody playing in the background. A lone member of Underoath took the stage and sat on a sofa in the center, Aaron Gillespie. Gillespie started singing as a sole lamp illuminated him from behind, casting his silhouette and shadow across the stage. Members of the audience joined in singing “Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape” with the lone singer, who was pouring immense passion into the lyrics. As the song progressed, other lamps came on to light the next member who took the stage.

By the end of the song all members had joined the stage but one, Spencer Chamberlain. He walked out to a roar of shouts and applause from the crowd. He looked out into the the audience, raised his hands in the air, and then the stage exploded with lights as Underoath went into “Young and Aspiring.” Chamberlain was running all over the stage and into the audience while screaming the lyrics, intensifying the energy the crowd was already showing.

Underoath kept the night’s momentum going forward as they performed “They’re Only Chasing Safety” from front to back. Some highlights were “A Boy Brushed Red Living in Black and White,” “Reinventing Your Exit,” and “It’s Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door.” I absolutely had chills as the crowd sang in unison “Drowning in my sleep, I’m drowning in my sleep.” Everyone in attendance swayed before exploding with more energy, mosh pits and crowd surfers.

After playing the entire album, Underoath was not finished with Baltimore yet. They went on with a 6 song set featuring fan-voted songs. This set included their new single “Teeth,” and other popular songs “You’re Ever So Inviting,” “When the Sun Sleeps” (which according to Chamberlin was the first time in 20 years they played this song in Baltimore) and finished with “Writing on the Walls.” I was afraid the roof was going to come down during the final song because the crowd was lost in the music while moshing.

If you have a chance to catch Underoath on this tour, do not hesitate to buy a ticket! There is a reason shows are selling out across the country. Underoath will be touring until mid-December so make sure you because it is a night you will not forget anytime soon!  Below are more images of Underoath performing at Rams Head Live! on 9/28/2024.
