Five for Fighting (aka John Ondrasik) joined Barenaked Ladies on their “Last Summer on Earth” tour and performed July 5th at The Anthem, in Washington, DC. He was joined by drummer Randy Cooke, bassist Sean Hurley, and guitarist Peter Thorn. Ondrasik’s high energy performance definitely warmed up the crowd and got the fans moving.

Five for Fighting sounded amazing as they opened with “American Town.” Starting off with his guitar, Ondrasik played to the crowd and it was fun to hear the crowd behind me singing, cheering, and having a great times. With other popular hits “Superman” and “100 Years”, the crowd never stopped singing.
There were several highlights from the show. The first was Ondrasik’s emotional tribute to the troops and veterans in Ukraine as he played “Can One Man Save the World.” As he performed, footage of Ukraine in ruins were playing on the screen behind him. It made the song that more powerful and emotional. Another highlight was Five for Fighting’s amazing cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. When the notes began, the crowd understood the assignment, sing as loudly as you can! The room exploded with voices that would blow the roof off The Anthem. It sent shivers down my spine!
If you have a chance, I highly recommend catching Five for Fighting on this tour! They truly know how to get a crowd warmed up. Please enjoy the rest of the photos from The Anthem in Washington, DC on 7/5/2023. All images copyright and courtesy of John Krebs. Enjoy!!!
