Calling all cars, we have a concert review! Senses Fail are currently on their co-headlining tour called the “New Jersey VS. The World” tour with Saves The Day. Supporting these bands is Narrow Head. The entire night was filled with emo anthems, non-stop jumping, and plenty of nostalgia to go around! It was an amazing performance!
Anyway, continue reading below for more photos of Senses Fail and my full review of the show. Be sure to check out Senses Fail’s Official Website (that completely looks like your old Myspace page) for music, videos, news, and tickets for all upcoming tour dates. I still remember the first time I saw Senses Fail. The year was 2008, I just graduated high school and they came to perform at a nearby neighborhood for a free show after an all day battle of the bands. They have not lost their spark or energy over the many years! Even though the line up has changed several times, Senses Fail still continues on with the same heart and passion!
On this tour, Senses Fail is performing the album “Let It Enfold You” in its entirety. This album is celebrating its 20th birthday and I guarantee it was the entry way to emo and pop punk for so many people. Being up front capturing Buddy Nielsen running around the stage, swinging his mic around, and pouring his heart into the lyrics was truly spectacular!
The audience exploded when Senses Fail took the stage and blasted through “Tie Her Down,” “Lady in a Blue Dress,” and “You’re Cute When You Scream.” Buddy came out and sprayed water as he launched into the first song. I could not help but move around and sing along to these songs as I was capturing the photos. I was having huge flashbacks about driving to high school and dealing with life as an angsty teenager! The band continued performing, the next song was “Buried a Lie.” This has always been one of my favorite songs by Senses Fail and it was surreal watching them perform it live!
I can easily play the album “Let it Enfold You” cover to cover with zero skips and it was an awesome experience living it at this show. The crowd had an amazing time jumping and moshing to some of the album’s heavier songs like “Bite to Break Skin,” “Rum Is For Drinking, Not For Burning,” “Choke On This,” and “Irony of Dying on Your Birthday.” No one was standing still in the entire venue.
After finishing the album, Senses Fail was not done yet. They went on to perform a great encore consisting of their cover of Suicidal Tendencies’ “Institutionalized,” “Calling All Cars,” “Can’t Be Saved,” and My Chemical Romance’s “Helena.” I thought the venue was going to come crashing down during this encore. The energy was truly though the roof!
If you ever get a chance to catch Senses Fail live, do everything in your power to make the show! You will not be disappointed. I am already keeping an eye out for another chance to see them soon!
