Story of the Year are currently on tour with The Used and stopped to perform a one-off headlining show at the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center on 6/30/2024. At this particular show, they had support from The Plain White T’s. Still celebrating the 20th anniversary of Page Avenue (21 years now) it was an amazing night of emo anthems and great times! Story of the Year put on an amazing show that is full of audience engagement, bouncing to the beat, and singing along to heart filled lyrics!

Story of the Year started the night off strong with “And the Hero Will Drown,” “Dive Right In,” and “Divide in Conquer.” During each of these songs, the audience bounced, swayed and sung along to every word. What was amazing to see was that the crowd was not just elder emos, but fans of all ages were in attendance. I discovered Story of the Year in middle school and have been a fan since. It made me happy that other kids of that age were watching and singing along.
The night consisted of a 16 song set list that included the entirety of Page Avenue as well as other hits from Tear Me to Pieces as well as In the Wake of Determination. Some of my favorites, that I cannot help to sing along to, were “Anthem of Our Dying Day,” “Swallow the Knife,” “Sidewalks,” “In the Shadows,” and “Until the Day I Die.” It was a setlist that fans, new and old alike, could enjoy.
One thing that I have always admired about Story of the Year is their crowd interactions. Dan Marsala, SOTY’s vocalist, engages with the audience and chats with them between songs. The audience hung on his every word and followed his every command from. I always love watching bands interact with their fans and Story of the Year does an amazing job.
If you ever get the chance to see Story of the Year, you must go! They consistently put on an amazing show and bring a high energy performance.
