I Prevail are currently on a co-headlining tour with Halestorm and came to perform at The York State Fair on 7/27/2024. The entire bill consists of Fit For A King, Hollywood Undead, I Prevail, and Halestorm. I Prevail crushed their performance in front of all 10K in attendance!

As the sun set on an amazing day at The York State Fair, I Prevail took the stage and absolutely tore it apart! They performed a 14 song set filled with brutal breakdowns, singalong melodies, and neck-breaking headbangs. This was my first time seeing I Prevail live, but I have been a fan since 2014, with their cover of “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift (which they played!) came out on Pop Goes Punk Vol. 6.
The started their set with “There’s Fear in Letting Go,” “Body Bag,” and “Self-Destruction.” I was personally freaking out as I watched “Body Bag” from the photo pit. The fast paced song brings the energy and the crowd couldn’t stand still while watching. Eric Vanlerberghe’s unclean vocals rattle in your chest especially when he hits the low notes.
The counter balance to Vanlerberghe’s growls is Brian Burkheiser’s clean vocals. He has an amazing range and brings a lot of energy to the performance! He was frequently seen swaying on the stage, getting the crowd to jump and singing his heart out. I was happy he was at this performance because he had to sit out I Prevail’s last tour after having surgery. During the performance he talked about his struggles and his recovery which made for an impactful moment for the crowd.
The entire brings a great energy as they perform with an amazing production. The band had giant screens surrounding them which added depth and cinema to their performance. It was fun watching it change from skies to lightening to fire. There was even cinematic interludes with a narrator introducing certain songs.
One of the special things about this performance was that fans of all ages attended this show. I saw so many children rocking out on their parent’s shoulders. Music has always been an important part of my life and it was awesome to see the younger fans make core memories!
The band played many of their hits including “Breaking Down,” “FWYTYK,” “Choke,” “Hurricane,” and “Bow Down.” This was an amazing setlist! One of my favorite moments of the night was watching (and screaming along with) I Prevail performing my favorite song “Gasoline.” It was surreal looking at the stage and the crowd while a Ferris Wheel and other attractions were going in the background.
If you ever get a chance, I highly recommend seeing I Prevail live. They put on a fantastic show filled with their hits, non-stop headbanging, and amazing production. Below are more images of I Prevail at The York State Fair on 7/27/2024. All images copyright and courtesy of John Krebs. Enjoy!!!
