Story of the Year are currently on the second leg of their Page Avenue 20th anniversary tour and stopped to perform at Rams Head Live! in Baltimore, MD. They are touring till the end of January with support from Youth Fountain and We The Kings. I was very excited to cover this show because I have been a fan of Story of the Year since they opened for Linkin Park back in 2004 and they have been one of my favorites since then. The 20th anniversary show was a phenomenal evening consisting of belted ballads, entertaining stage presence, and non-stop energy!

When Story of the Year took the stage, the entire audience exploded. Everyone was on their feet, bouncing to their music, and singing along to every single song. Story of the Year started their set off strong with “And the Hero Will Drown,” “Dive Right In,” and “Divide and Conquer.” One of my favorite moments from the first three songs was the energy that each member brought. Their lead singer, Dan Marsala, never stopped moving and continued to bounce through their songs. Ryan Phillips and Adam Russell, their guitarist and bass player respectively, continuously interacted with each other which even included one running through the other’s legs. I couldn’t help but laugh and take it all in.
After the initial three songs, Story of the Year performed one of my favorite songs, “Anthem of our Dying Day.” This was the song that made me fall in love with the band and being able to watch it performed 20 years to the day that I first saw them was an amazing experience! These songs pack such an emotional punch that you can’t help but to embrace it.
The rest of the night consisted of the remaining songs from Page Avenue as well as a some from their new album Tear Me to Pieces. Every song they played sounded phenomenal and the crowd loved every second of it. One last highlight was a medley they played during their encore. It consisted of songs from Yellowcard, Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance, and The Used. It was insane hearing these covers. The final cherry on top was closing the night with “Until the Day I Die.” The entire crowd sung along with the chorus and it sent chills down my spine.
If you ever have the chance to catch Story of the Year on the road, I highly recommend it! They do not disappoint! Below are more photos of Story of the Year performing at Rams Head Live! in Baltimore, MD on 1/16/2024. All images are copyright and courtesy of John Krebs. Enjoy!!!
