Post Malone stopped at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC on October 12, 2019 and I, Abdulah Konte, was there shooting from unusually roomy photo pit. That’s right, Post Malone! We were extremely fortunate to have obtained a photo pass and review ticket for this massive tour. Thanks to Hazy Eye Music Media’s editor Andy Jillson for the hook up! Post Malone (singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer) recently kicked off his “Runaway Tour” which features Tyla Yaweh and Swae Lee as the openers. The tour is in full swing — visiting cities across the U.S. and Canada. Malone’s Runaway Tour began in September 2019 and wraps up on November 20, 2019 at The Forum in Los Angeles, California.

All week long I had been hearing about Post Malone’s tour coming to DC. The excitement and hype for Malone’s performance was unreal, and I must say that he did not disappoint. The show opened with a Tyla Yaweh and Swae Lee who also were enjoyable. Both opening artists delivered high-energy performances — warming the crowd up before Post Malone’s entrance onto the stage.

Yaweh is fairly new to the touring music scene and bit unknown by most at the moment, but Swae Lee was much more familiar to the crowd and was able to get the whole place bumping. His stage show was something to witness for sure. He even brought roses onto the stage and tossed out a few to select Lee fans packed in front. However, nothing was as exciting as when the headliner showed up to perform.

For Post Malone’s performance the stage was converted into one long smoky strip that ran through the middle of the crowd — the crowd was converted into a sea of fanatical Malone disciples. One half of the stage rose up as the music began; and there stood Malone himself — backlit with fog and smoke swirling all around him as he entered the main stage. Epic.

The roar that came from the crowd was deafening. There were huge video screens, lights, and pyrotechnics of all sorts. It was awe-striking. Malone was dressed to impress too. He was wearing a loose pink checkered-flannel shirt with a pair of funky slacks. He still looking rough and rugged though.

The second song performed by Malone was “Better Now.” This was clearly one of the crowd’s favorite tracks of the night. He could have dropped the mic and the crowd would have continued to sing the whole song without him. It was a sing-along like I had never heard.

The intensity of Post Malone and the obvious love and respect of the crowd made this concert one I will never forget. Malone’s fans cheered, screamed, and sang along with the mega-star for most of his set. Post Malone’s music is incredible, and his stage presence is unmatched by any other pop star. He is extremely underrated regarding his stage presence, energy, and passion for music. Malone delivered a unique mix of rock, pop, and rap to the stage in DC — and the crowd and I loved every minute of it!

His Grammy-nominated album beerbongs & bentleys was recently certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for combined sales, streaming and track-sale equivalents of three million units in the United States.

Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys was ranked as the third most popular album of the year on the Billboard 200. The album also broke the record for the most simultaneous top 20 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart with 9 songs in the top 20 of the Hot 100 — shattering the previous record of 6, which was shared by The Beatles and J. Cole. Whoa. Be sure to check Post Malone’s Official Website for for all remaining tour dates and other info about the Post Malone and his new album, Hollywood’s Bleeding.
