Skinny Puppy recently performed at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD and I was there to capture some action. I have been a fan of Skinny Puppy since the early 90s, but this was my first time seeing them perform live. The band are on their final tour so figured I would check them out while I still had the chance.

Anyway, continue viewing below for more photos of Skinny Puppy live at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD on 4/19/2023. Be sure to check out the Official Skinny Puppy Website for music, videos, news, and tickets for all upcoming tour dates. All images copyright and courtesy of Andy Jillson.

In this Hazy Eye Media photo flashback we’re taking a trip down memory lane with Keb Mo at The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA on 2/20/2023. This was my second time contributing to Hazy Eye Media, and once again I feel grateful for the opportunity. Keb Mo is an amazing “bluesy” singer, songwriter, and guitar player. I have been at The Birchmere several times in the past, but this was my first time seeing Keb Mo.

Anyway, be sure to check out the official Keb Mo Website for music, news, and tickets for all upcoming tour dates. Continue viewing below for more pics from his show at The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA on 2/20/2023. All images copyright and courtesy of James Miller.

Soulfly (Photo by Andy Jillson)

Soulfly played a killer set at Soundstage in Baltimore, MD on 2/16/23, and luckily I was there in the photo pit for the first three songs. I’m a long-time fan of Max Cavalera. Lost my shit at this show. The band absolutely destroyed the crowd. Brutal heavy metal music at its finest. Much respect.

Anyway, be sure to check out the official Soulfly Website for music, videos, news, and tickets for all upcoming tour dates. Continue viewing below for more pics from Soundstage in Baltimore, MD on 2/16/2023. All images copyright and courtesy of Andy Jillson.

Kids Return (Photo by James Miller)

In this Hazy Eye Media photo flashback we’re taking a trip down memory lane with Kids Return at Songbyrd Music House in Washington, DC on 2/12/2023. This was my first time covering a show for Hazy Eye Media and I feel grateful for the opportunity. The venue is a great local hangout and Kids Return played a set full of memorable songs. I had honestly never heard of the band before, but definitely enjoyed the performance and consider them an up-in-coming musical artist.

Anyway, be sure to check out the official Kids Return Website for music, news, and tickets for all upcoming tour dates. Continue viewing below for more pics from the show at Songbyrd Music House in Washington, DC on 2/12/2023. All images copyright and courtesy of James Miller.

August Burns Red (Photo by Andy Jillson)

August Burns Red played the first show of their tour in front of a packed house at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD last week. The performance was flawless and the band played a mixture of material spanning a 20 year career. The venue was extremely hot and when the band started to play the heat was almost unbearable. The fans were literally burning up.

Anyway, be sure to check out the Official August Burns Red Website, for music, news, and all upcoming tour dates. Continue viewing below for more pics from The Fillmore on 2/15/2023. All images copyright and courtesy of Andy Jillson.

They Might Be Giants (Photo by Andy Jillson)

Alternative rock pioneers They Might Be Giants played for a sold out crowd at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, MD on 12/18/2022. Most of the dates on this tour were sold out, and for good reason. TMBG were celebrating the 40th Anniversary as a band, as well as the release of their 1990 album, Flood. This show honestly felt and sounded like a celebration.

If you were unable to see TMBG in 2022, check the Official TMBG Website for 2023 tour dates. Also be sure to check out TMBG newest album, BOOK. Continue reading below for more pics and my full review. All images copyright and courtesy of Andy Jillson.

Dead Cross II

Just in time for the holidays, American hardcore “supergroup” Dead Cross released their second full-length album, II, on Ipecac Recordings this past October. The album is a concoction of musical treatments, doused with innovative riffs of gothic proportion, drummed up from the ash of burnt angel wings. It assaults the mind as it slowly peels the skin from the back of your neck. An entourage of metal’s finest, drilling distorted bass riffs into a tight metal frame, led by the ethereal uprise and brutal assault of Mike Patton’s vocals. A group of signature personas co-authoring new anthems of isolation and hatred towards war, global dominance, extreme consumerism, toxic masculinity, insanity, and fear-mongering. A scathing shitstorm of misanthropy aimed at society at large.

Anyway, continue reading below for my full review. Visit the Ipecac Recordings Website for Dead Cross music and merch. Album review by Joseph Strand.
