Grandmaster Flash performed for a sold out crowd at U Street Music Hall in Washington, DC on February 8, 2020 — and Hazy Eye Music Media contributors were there to check it out. Flash’s interactive set (which includes Flash, his turntables, laptop, and a projection screen) rocked U Street for 3 solid hours, and the man never missed a beat.
Tove Lo played for a sold out crowd at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland on February 7, 2020 — and Hazy Eye Music Media’s contributor Marley Hein was there to capture some of the intense booty-shaking action. The Swedish singer/songwriter is known for her raw energy, honest lyrics, and “grunge-influenced” modern pop music. In this concert review, Marley will be our guide.
J. Roddy Walston & Palm Palm performed at Union Stage in Washington, DC on January 26, 2020 — and Hazy Eye Music Media’s contributor Brad Price was there to capture some of the rock ‘n’ roll strangeness. Yep, in this “Photo Flashback” we’re taking a trip down memory lane with J. Roddy Walston & Palm Palm — and Brad is our guide.

Well look who we have here…it’s Marley Hein! Hazy Eye Music Media is more than happy to have Marley Hein on board as a contributor/author. Cory Wong performed to a sold out crowd at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 24, 2020 — and I, Jordan August, was allowed into the photo pit just in the nick of time to capture a bit of the funky magic. I’m truly grateful to have been at this event. Philly loves Cory Wong and it showed. What follows is more of an account of my evening than an actual live concert review.
Greensky Bluegrass performed at The Met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 18, 2020 — and I, Jordan August, was there in the crowd clutching my camera and gear. Much like many of the “jam bands” in the scene, I’ve been photographing and seeing Greensky Bluegrass perform live for a long time. This show was different though. The Met is a special place to see a show and the band knows that. This hometown performance was one to remember for the fans and band alike.
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong performed at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 17, 2020 — and I, Jordan August, was there having a lunch break blast. I have been photographing and seeing the Pigeon boys perform live for 10 years now. Since the first show (in College Park, MD opening for The Bridge), the guys in the band have become good friends of mine — and watching them grow to these massive heights over the past few years has really put a smile on my face. What a phenomenal progression. Bravo!
The Jesus Lizard performed for a rabid crowd at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 30, 2019 — I, Andy Jillson, was there having a rock ‘n’ roll catharsis. This was my fourth time seeing The Jesus Lizard live, but it was undoubtedly one of the most memorable. David Yow captivated the audience, the band punished their instruments, and we all loved every second of it.
The Jesus Lizard will be stopping at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 30, 2019 — I, Andy Jillson, will be there having a rock ‘n’ roll catharsis. This will be one of only three shows the band are scheduled to play this year. Whoa. Don’t sleep on this one y’all! Yep, The Jesus Lizard will be performing in Philly — and if you’re not a moron you’ll be there too. It’s going to be epic. Tickets for The Jesus Lizard show at Union Transfer can be purchased HERE.
