In this Hazy Eye Media photo flashback we’re taking a trip down memory lane with Keb Mo at The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA on 2/20/2023. This was my second time contributing to Hazy Eye Media, and once again I feel grateful for the opportunity. Keb Mo is an amazing “bluesy” singer, songwriter, and guitar player. I have been at The Birchmere several times in the past, but this was my first time seeing Keb Mo.

Anyway, be sure to check out the official Keb Mo Website for music, news, and tickets for all upcoming tour dates. Continue viewing below for more pics from his show at The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA on 2/20/2023. All images copyright and courtesy of James Miller.

Buddy Guy (Photo by Andy Jillson)

Buddy Guy recently performed at Capital One Hall with special guest Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, and I was there to document my first show in this new venue. The one-time-only show took place in Tysons Corner, Virginia on 4/2/2022. Fortunately, I was approved for a photo pass and received a warm welcome upon arrival. I hope to be back soon.

Anyway, this concert was truly a historical music event. Be sure to check the Official Buddy Guy Website & Kingfish Website for music, news, merch, and tickets for all upcoming tour dates. Continue reading below for my full review. All images copyright and courtesy of Andy Jillson.

The Infamous Stringdusters (Photo by Andy Jillson)

The Infamous Stringdusters played three sold out shows in a row at B Chord Brewing in Round Hill, VA last weekend. I was there covering their performances on Friday (4/16) and Saturday (4/17). These were the Stringdusters’ first shows in over a year. The band and crowd alike were overjoyed and full of positive energy. A good time was had by all.

Anyway, in this photo flashback we’re taking a glimpse into the world of post-COVID concerts. Be sure to check out the Official Infamous Stringdusters Website for music, videos, merch, and upcoming shows. Eric Scott (Photo by Andy Jillson)

The Eric Scott Band played a sold out show at Rams Head On Stage in Annapolis, MD on February 25, 2021 and I was there doing my best to photograph the band behind a plexiglass barrier. Eric Scott is a Washington, DC singer-songwriter and bassist. He has toured internationally and is a 15-time Wammie winner, as awarded by the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA). He’s also a 2021 Wammie Finalist. Amazing.

Anyway, in this photo flashback, we’re taking a trip down memory lane with the Eric Scott Band. This was my first show of the year, and Eric’s too! Pigeons Playing Ping Pong @ Citizens Bank Park

This past Friday, August 21, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong brought their unique brand of psychedelic funk to Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA. Their live musical performance was a part of the “Live-In Drive-In” concert series courtesy of Live Nation. Looks like the band and audience had a great time. Live-In Drive-In is a drive-in concert series featuring live performances on stage in the parking lot at Citizens Bank Park in Philly. The series allows you to enjoy live concerts, while still maintaining social distancing from the comfort of your own individual vehicle.

Eli Cook

The Eli Cook Band will be performing at “America’s Legendary Music Hall” The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA Friday August 22, 2020. The Birchmere is open and has taken all enhanced health and safety measures, and are following all procedures set forth by the CDC and the Commonwealth of Virginia. Tickets for the Eli Cook Band’s performance at The Birchmere can be purchased HERE or HERE.

“Everybody knows the story of the crossroads, where blues guitarists go at midnight to trade their souls to the devil for musical prowess. It’s just a myth, of course, but if it were true, firebrand Eli Cook could have bragging rights, as his scarifying solo-country blues chill like a hellhound on your trail.” –  Guitar Player (2007)

Andy Frasco & The U.N. will be playing at DC’s historic 9:30 Club on February 13, 2020 — and I, Andy Jillson, will be there to document the musical madness. The band’s sound has been described as “feel good blues-rock fueled by reckless abandonment and a disregard for the rules, and witty lyrics to back it all up.” The band’s live performances have been described as a “boisterous blend of harmonic funk and jazzy influences, all topped with boundless energy.”

Cory Wong @ Theatre of Living Arts (Photo by Jordan August)

Cory Wong performed to a sold out crowd at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 24, 2020 — and I, Jordan August, was allowed into the photo pit just in the nick of time to capture a bit of the funky magic. I’m truly grateful to have been at this event. Philly loves Cory Wong and it showed. What follows is more of an account of my evening than an actual live concert review.

Greensky Bluegrass @ The Met (Photo by Jordan August)

Greensky Bluegrass performed at The Met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 18, 2020 — and I, Jordan August, was there in the crowd clutching my camera and gear. Much like many of the “jam bands” in the scene, I’ve been photographing and seeing Greensky Bluegrass perform live for a long time. This show was different though. The Met is a special place to see a show and the band knows that. This hometown performance was one to remember for the fans and band alike.

Markus King Band performed to an intense soldout crowd at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 10, 2019 — and I, Jordan August, was there to capture some of the musical greatness. MKB definitely brought the south to Philly. The Theatre of Living Arts was packed to the absolute max for this performance. Awesome show!
