Heilung performed for a sold out crowd at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland on January 22, 2020 — and Hazy Eye Music Media’s contributor Abdullah Konte was there to capture some medieval folk magic. Greensky Bluegrass performed at The Met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 18, 2020 — and I, Jordan August, was there in the crowd clutching my camera and gear. Much like many of the “jam bands” in the scene, I’ve been photographing and seeing Greensky Bluegrass perform live for a long time. This show was different though. The Met is a special place to see a show and the band knows that. This hometown performance was one to remember for the fans and band alike.
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong performed at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 17, 2020 — and I, Jordan August, was there having a lunch break blast. I have been photographing and seeing the Pigeon boys perform live for 10 years now. Since the first show (in College Park, MD opening for The Bridge), the guys in the band have become good friends of mine — and watching them grow to these massive heights over the past few years has really put a smile on my face. What a phenomenal progression. Bravo!
The Jesus Lizard performed for a rabid crowd at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 30, 2019 — I, Andy Jillson, was there having a rock ‘n’ roll catharsis. This was my fourth time seeing The Jesus Lizard live, but it was undoubtedly one of the most memorable. David Yow captivated the audience, the band punished their instruments, and we all loved every second of it.
Thurston Moore Group performed at the Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland on December 8, 2019 — and I, Andy Jillson, was there to capture some of the beautiful instrumental magic. Yep, in this “Photo Flashback” we’re taking a trip down memory lane with the Thurston Moore Group.
Daughters stopped at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC on December 18, 2019 and I was there rocking out with the band for my third time in the last two years. The venue wasn’t sold out, but it was packed tightly. The photo pit was full, the crowd was frantic, and Daughters fucking killed it.
Robert Earl Keen performed at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC on December 6, 2019 — and I, Andy Jillson, was there snapping pictures and having a blast with his fans. I was extremely fortunate to have obtained a photo pass and review ticket for this show. Keen’s “Countdown to Christmas Tour” was the best holiday concert I’ve ever attended.
Culture Abuse performed at the Black Cat in Washington, DC on December 4, 2019 — and Hazy Eye Music Media’s contributor Brad Price was there to capture some of the punkish fury. Yep, in this “Photo Flashback” we’re taking a trip down memory lane with Culture Abuse — and Brad is our guide.
The Joy Formidable performed at Rock & Roll Hotel in Washington, DC on November 29, 2019 — and I, Andy Jillson, was there to capture some of the musical magic. Yep, in this “Photo Flashback” we’re taking a trip down memory lane with The Joy Formidable.
