Interview: Rob Wallace (Concert Photographer)

Hazy Eye Music Media is proud to announce the second interview in a series of interviews I’m currently conducting with some of my favorite concert photographers. I’m stepping outside of my comfort zone and have begun picking the brains of some phenomenal photographers. My interviews in this series focus on “local” concert photographers. That is photographers around DC, MD, and VA. The DMV as we call it.

Anyway, check it out! I, Andy Jillson, was fortunate enough to interview Rob Wallace. Rob is a topnotch concert photographer and has covered a wide variety of great musical artists. Rob truly loves music and photography, and it shows in his work. He is a member of the I.M.P. house photographer team and shoots at multiple venues around the DMV such as The Anthem, 9:30 Club, Lincoln Theatre, Merriweather Post Pavilion, and Wolf Trap. I’m stepping outside of my comfort zone and have begun picking the brains of some phenomenal musicians. This time I, Andy Jillson, was fortunate enough to interview Nick Sadler aka Nicholas Andrew Sadler.

Album Review: Don’t Bleed by Le Butcherettes

If you are a die hard fan of Teri Gender Bender and Le Butcherettes you were not disappointed with this new EP. If you recently discovered the band since the album’s release on Valentine’s Day, you were likely struck by Gender Bender’s crooked arrow of love.

From the opening track “Wounds Belong To Me” featuring Teri on acoustic guitar, singing into what sounds like an old cassette recorder, to the album’s closing track “Boom” dropping an 808 alongside contorted lead lines and idiosyncratic beats, and variations of electronic rock songs in between, Don’t Bleed is an eclectic 7 song journey through love and femininity’s deeper shades via one of rock music’s most colorful female artists.

Interview: Blake Harrison (Pig Destroyer, Zealot R.I.P., Hatebeak)

Harrison is a musical artist most known for his work with American grindcore masters, Pig Destroyer. He has established himself as unique sampler and noise-maker within Pig Destroyer, but also adds creepy sonic chaos to all the bands he lends his talents to. Interview: Chris Connelly (Finitribe, Ministry, Revolting Cocks, Pigface, Murder Inc., The Damage Manual)

Hazy Eye Music Media is proud to announce the second interview in a series of interviews I’m currently conducting with some of my favorite artists. I’m stepping outside of my comfort zone and have begun picking the brains of some phenomenal musicians. This time I, Andy Jillson, was fortunate enough to interview Chris Connelly. Chris Connelly is a Scottish-born musician and author who is widely known for his work with Ministry, Revolting Cocks, Pigface, and a other highly influence electro-industrial bands during the mid 1980’s and early 1990’s. He has since established himself as respected solo artist and singer-songwriter. To this day, Connelly continues to write new material and has released several poignant solo albums.

In 2008, Connelly published a memoir of his early years in the music industry titled, Concrete, Bulletproof, Invisible, and Fried: My Life As A Revolting Cock. The book is “superbly written, funny, irreverent, and a downright scary memoir” at times. I highly suggest you buy the book and take the trip. Chris Connelly is a unique artist with an interesting career/life. I have been listening to his music since I was about 13. Anyway, check it out!

Interview: Justin Pearson (Dead Cross, The Locust, Retox, Planet B, Deaf Club)

Hazy Eye Music Media is proud to announce the first interview in a series of interviews I’m currently conducting with some of my favorite artists. I’m stepping outside of my comfort zone and have begun picking the brains of some phenomenal musicians. It’s extremely unfortunate that there will likely be no live shows to attend during the remainder of 2020, but that’s not going to stop me from interacting with my musical peers.

Anyway, check it out! I, Andy Jillson, was fortunate enough to interview Justin Pearson earlier this week. Justin is a unique vocalist and bass guitar player, and is also the owner of his own record label, Three One G Records. He has had a prolific music career thus far, and there seems to be no end to his creativity. He is currently a member of Dead Cross, The Locust, Planet B, and Deaf Club. Album Review: Reunions by Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit’s new musical excursion, Reunions, is a wonderful concoction of music and lyrics that Isbell uses to provide insight into the human condition. With his wife Amanda Shires on violin and background vocals, and David Crosby on background vocals on some songs, the band shines on with country-flavored rock anthems that nicely fit into the Americana genre. Young Dolph and Key Glock performed for a sold out crowd at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland on March 1, 2020 — and Hazy Eye Music Media’s contributor Abdullah Konte was there to capture some of this soon to be classic Fillmore rap show. Young Dolph recently confirmed that he is retiring from the rap game. That’s right. Total bummer for his fans, but great news for his kids. We are truly grateful to have this “Photo Flashback.” Thanks Abdullah!
