Death metal icons Cannibal Corpse recently kicked off their long-awaited headlining tour of the states and stopped at Baltimore Soundstage this past weekend. Of course, I had to check them out. I couldn’t help myself!

One word basically sums up this show…brutal. Cannibal Corpse is a must-see live act for fans of extreme hard rock and heavy metal. The band sold out Soundstage and are selling out other dates as well. Be sure to check the Official Cannibal Corpse Website for music, news, merch, and tickets for all upcoming tour dates. Ghost (Photo by Andy Jillson)

Ghost, Sweden’s hardest-rocking band, brought their unique sound and style to the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania earlier this week. I was lucky enough to catch the band while touring across North America with co-headliners Volbeat. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect walking into the photo pit for Ghost’s performance, and I must admit I was somewhat nervous, but my expectations were far exceeded.

Anyway, this is a must-see musical event for all fans of hard rock and heavy metal. Tickets for remaining tour dates are available HERE. Also be sure to check the Official Ghost Website for music, videos, news, and all upcoming tour dates. Continue reading below for my full concert review. Jay Wheeler (Photo by Sarah Liao)

Jay Wheeler, a Puerto Rican singer and Latin Grammy nominee, played to a sold out crowd at the SF Masonic in San Francisco, CA on 12/4/2021. Jay Wheeler is currently on his 2021-2022 LA FOZ FAVORITA tour in the US. His performance at The Masonic electrified the crowd and filled the venue with the sound of screaming fans. Wheeler’s energy could be felt in every corner during the entire show.

Tickets for the remaining shows on his tour can be found here. Also be sure to check out the Official Jay Wheeler Website for music, videos, news, and all tour dates. San Holo (Photo by Ardin Lo)

San Holo played to a packed crowd at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA on 11/20/2021. San Holo is currently on an extensive US fall and winter tour in support of his new album, bb u ok?. This was my second time at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, but my first time seeing San Holo live. Photographing him from the photo pit, and feeling the energy and emotion of the crowd, was an amazing experience.

Anyway, tickets for upcoming San Holo shows can be purchased at https://sanholo.com/shows. Slipknot (Photo by Anthony Scanga)

Well, I was fortunate to see Slipknot twice this year on the Knotfest Roadshow. I made the trip to BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ on 10/12/21, and also attended their show at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, VA on 10/13/21. Both performances were top notch, but the show in New Jersey was my favorite. The fans in Camden were fuckin’ nuts! The woman in the sit next to mine cried sporadically throughout Slipknot’s entire performance. Intense.

Be sure to check the Official Slipknot Website for music, videos, news, and all upcoming tour dates. Continue reading below for my full concert review. All images copyright and courtesy of Anthony Scanga. Much gratitude to Costa Nostra PR for making this happen.

Dermot Kennedy (Photo by Sean Rider)

It was a rainy Sunday night on August 8, 2021 when Dermot Kennedy took the stage at The Pageant in St. Louis. The venue hummed with the energy that only a sold out show could provide. The show itself was emotional for me in numerous ways. This was the first concert I attended since the pandemic started in early 2020, over a year ago. Just being back in a crowd of like-minded music lovers was enough to send tingles straight down my spine.

Anyway, tickets for upcoming Dermot Kennedy shows can be purchased at dermotkennedy.com/tour. Modest Mouse played to a sold out crowd at The Met in Philadelphia, PA on 8/5/21. The band are currently on an extensive US summer and fall tour in support of their new album, The Golden Casket. This was my first time at The Met and my first time seeing Modest Mouse live since 1999. It felt amazing being in the photo pit for this show.

Anyway, tickets for upcoming Modest Mouse shows can be purchased at modestmouse.com/#tour. Goose (Photo by Andy Jillson)

Goose and their musical gaggle landed at the Frederick Fairgrounds in Frederick, MD on October 19, 2020 and sold the place out. Showtime At The Drive-In has been hosting drive-in concert events at the fairgrounds and Goose have been the best act yet. This was my introduction to the band and honestly, I was blown away by their musical performance and uplifting vibes. Goose are definitely not your average “jam band” or “indie band.”

GWAR (Photo by Andy Jillson)

Holy shit! GWAR played their first drive-in concert in the parking lot of The Diamond in Richmond, VA on 10/10/20, and I was fortunate enough to be there for my first parking lot show as well. The band’s performance was top notch and included all the horrific thrills and chills you would expect from these intergalactic metal gods — blood, guts, and senseless rock ‘n’ roll obscenity. I loved every second of it.

Nelly

This weekend, Live Nation launched their first ever U.S. drive-in concert series – Live From The Drive In – marking a highly anticipated return to live, in person events in a safe and socially distanced manner. Nelly, Darius Rucker, Jon Pardi, El Monstero, and Yacht Rock Revue kicked off the series with performances across Nashville, St. Louis, and Indianapolis. Country superstar Brad Paisley headlined the Live Nation U.S. drive-in concert series and all three stops were sold out; however, it was a particularly epic night for Nelly and St. Louis hip-hop fans — as Nelly celebrated the 20th anniversary of his album Country Grammar on Sunday at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre.

In this “photo flashback” we’re taking a trip down memory lane w/ Nelly at the Hollywood Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights, MO (St. Louis) on July 12, 2020. Continue Reading below for more photos of Nelly and St. Lunatics from Live Nation’s “Live From The Drive In” concert series.
