Japanese Breakfast played for a sold out crowd at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD last week. This was the first performance of their 2021 tour, and one I will remember for years to come. The venue was extremely hot and packed tightly; however, the crowd loved every second of it. I was personally so caught up in the musical excitement that three songs in the photo pit went by in a blink. Amazing performance. Amazing artist. Enough said.

Anyone who has a chance should give Japanese Breakfast a listen and buy a ticket to one of the shows. Tickets are on sale now and available for purchase at japanesebreakfast.rocks/tour. Continue reading below for more photos information. All images copyright and courtesy of Andy Jillson.

Japanese Breakfast (aka Michelle Zauner) recently released her highly-anticipated third album, Jubilee, and is touring across the US in support of the release. Jubilee is an album you need to listen to and Japanese Breakfast is an artist you need to see perform live. Shows are selling out fast! Don’t deprive yourself any longer. Go out and have a good time. Anyway, be sure to check out the Official Japanese Breakfast Website for music, videos, merch, and all upcoming tour dates.

“From the moment she began writing her new album, Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner knew that she wanted to call it Jubilee. After all, a jubilee is a celebration of the passage of time—a festival to usher in the hope of a new era in brilliant technicolor. Zauner’s first two albums garnered acclaim for the way they grappled with anguish; Psychopomp was written as her mother underwent cancer treatment, while Soft Sounds From Another Planet took the grief she held from her mother‘s death and used it as a conduit to explore the cosmos. Now, at the start of a new decade, Japanese Breakfast is ready to fight for happiness, an all-too-scarce resource in our seemingly crumbling world.”
