The Norfolk Tides played against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at Harbor Park Stadium in Norfolk, Virginia on 5/18/2021. This was the home opener for the Tides after over 200 days away from their home field. I was fortunate enough to obtain a media/photo pass to cover these MiLB teams. However, unfortunately for the home team, Jacksonville took the win. Final score: Jumbo Shrimp 4, Tides 0.

The Norfolk Tides are a Minor League Baseball team of the Triple-A East and the Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The team is located in Norfolk, VA, and play their home games at Harbor Park Stadium. The Tides, the top affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, will exclusively play opponents in the Southeast Division of the newly created Triple-A East League. The 20-team circuit replaced the 137-year-old International League last week as part of a wholesale overhaul of the player development system by Major League Baseball.
Norfolk’s schedule consists of 142 games, up from 140 in recent years, including 72 at home and 70 on the road. Also new: Most series, including all Tides home games, will consist of six games.
