Major League Rugby’s Old Glory DC won their match against Rugby ATL at home opener on Saturday, March 27. In Old Glory DC’s first-ever home game, at their new home on Segra Field in Leesburg, Virginia, they made a tremendous comeback during the second half of the game — defeating Rugby ATL 30-23.
Old Glory DC entered league competition with Major League Rugby (MLR) in February of 2020. Playing its home games at the brand new Segra Field, Old Glory DC will compete in MLR’s Eastern Conference against teams from Atlanta, New England, New Orleans, New York and Toronto, as well as play games against Western Conference teams Austin, Houston, San Diego, Seattle, and Utah. Mikey Sosene-Feagai was named “Player of the Match” following Old Glory’s victory against Rugby ATL this past Friday. Team member, and fellow New Zealander, Danny Tusitala also performed tremendously during the match. This was my first ever rugby game and my first time photographing a Major League sporting event. I had such a wonderful experience. The field was beautiful, staff was welcoming and helpful, game was entertaining, and I had an absolute blast spectating from the sidelines.
The fans were having a great time drinking and cheering on their teams during the game. Everyone in attendance appeared to be following all the safety protocols and were more than respectful. Old Glory DC is committed to maintaining a safe environment for everyone attending matches at Segra Field. Prior to attending a match at Segra Field, please review the Segra Field health and safety protocols. Click HERE for Old Glory DC’s 2021 Match Schedule.
