GWAR (Scumdogs of the Universe)

Richmond’s own intergalactic metal gods GWAR are taking over The Diamond in Richmond, Virginia with two drive-in concert performances on Saturday, October 10. I, Andy Jillson, will be attending the early show and Hazy Eye Music Media’s own Brad Price will be in the front row (receiving the VIP treatment) for GWAR’s late show…and boy are we excited!!!

Tickets range from $139.95 to $199.95 per vehicle for the concert, based on proximity to stage. The late show is sold out, but there are still a few tickets left for the early show. Singer/bassist “Blothar the Berserker” recently had this to say; “Denizens of Richmond, Virginia! Americans do everything in their cars, and now that will include watching the greatest rock and roll horror show on this or any other planet! Truly, what is October without a global pandemic and the chance to watch GWAR from the comfort of your shitty old hoopty?! Grab a hotdog, slather it in chili, and shove it down your throat as we bring you the pinnacle of entertainment, the ultimate creature feature, live and writhing…all over your windshield!”

REMEMBER: All attendees must arrive within a vehicle that is two axles. No campers, buses, or extremely large vehicles will be admitted. No vehicles towing trailers will be admitted. Jeeps without doors and convertibles with tops down are permitted. You must wear a mask if going to the portable restrooms. And if you are sick, running a fever or have been exposed to COVID-19, stay home until you are healthy! Click HERE for a list of important rules and regulations.

Brad Price had this to say; “Humanity is in a weird place at its current coordinates on the historical timeline, but humans are no strangers to weird places. A particular group of humans are quite accustomed to one of the strangest places known to live entertainment: GWAR fans. Bohabs as they are colloquially referred to among their kind, are a particular group/breed of metal-head that worship at the feet of their intergalactic gods as they are mercilessly hosed-down in a sea of blood, spew, and entrails; only the strong survive.

I have been lucky enough to escape with my life from 18 GWAR shows to date, and the past three have been from the blood-drenched photo pits -the only thing keeping GWAR from devouring the front row barrier-riders for the first three songs of their monstrous setlist.

Sadly, the planet is undergoing a period of undesired silence on its stages. Luckily enough, however, not even a global pandemic can keep GWAR away from a banquet of bohabs for long, because on October 10th they’ll be hosting two back-to-back buffets in Richmond in the parking lot of The Diamond to get their fill of flesh. Fuck yeah!!!

I look forward to seeing GWAR with a carload of victims, er, I mean, friends, front and center of the late show, as well as GWAR’s eventual return to venues across the country…assuming they spare the planet long enough to see an end to COVID-19. As expected from any GWAR show, it’s sure to be a messy affair, so bring some towels and extra windshield wiper fluid for the inevitable showering of blood, guts, and human filth.”
